3 Days - 5 Churches

Day 1

Leave Fethiye 9.00 a.m. Travel into the mountains to Denizli, the textile centre of ancient and modern Turkey where cotton and wool production still continues. Visit the site of the church of the Colossians soaking up the atmosphere before going for lunch at the worlds best (?) Pide restaurant. On to Laodicea, currently under extensive restoration, and my personal favourite of all the Seven Churches of Revelation. Discover what Jesus meant when he said that they were “neither hot nor cold.” and that he would clothe them in white, then share communion together in this amazing setting before going on to our hotel for the evening and discovering your new ‘favourite place’ to eat in the small village of Pammukale.

Day 2

An early start to our day as we drive to see the church of Philadelphia where the pillars remain of the church now surrounded by buildings. Journey on to Sardis, an extensive site and where you can see the largest excavated Synagogue which dates from the 3rd Century. See the restored ruins of this ancient city, once ruled by King Midas whose story teller was Aesop. A fabulous place to visit and one that will not easily be forgotten. We return to our hotel tired, but looking forwards to returning to our ‘favourite’ restaurant for an evening meal.

Day 3

Aftera tasty breakfast we visit the ancient city of Pammukale, or Hierapolis as it was known in bible times (Peter 1) where hot water springs have provided hot baths for thousands of years. See the magnificent Theatre and the Philip’s Martyrdom, where the Apostle Philip is said to have died. Maybe take time for a late lunch before our drive home to Fethiye through mountain scenery, arriving perhaps in time for dinner on the sea front. Perfect!

Cost Guide includes all entry fees:
